League School of Greater Boston Holding Its 4th Annual
5K Run/1 Mile Walk for Autism
Proceeds from Race On Saturday April 1st to Once Again Benefit School
(WALPOLE, MA) – With a number of participants already signed up (but as always, room for a lot more), preparations for the League School of Greater Boston’s 4th Annual 5K joint Road Race and Walk on Saturday, April 1st are in high gear. Advanced registration is $25 while registration the day of the race is $30. The money raised will support community engagement activities for students in both our day and residential programs. The League School has been providing direction and programs for children on the autism spectrum up to the age of 22 for over 50 years.
Once again, the race will be held at the Old Post Elementary School in Walpole and will start at 9:00 (registration opens at 8:00). For anyone interested in cheering participants on, here is a turn-by-turn outline of the race: Beginning at Old Post Rd. School, runners will head north on Old Post Rd. They will take a right onto Squire Court and follow that until it rejoins Old Post again. After a short distance, runners will then take a right onto Grant Avenue. They will then take a left onto MooseHill Road and then take a right when it intersects with Woodland Road. At the end of Woodland, they will take a left onto Pleasant Street and will then turn right, entering Bird Park. After taking a quick tour inside the park, runners will then exit the Park and next turn left on Polley Lane. Next, they will turn left on Pilgrim Way and stay on it and follow it to a left onto Pall Mall Road and follow that until they take a right onto Emerson and finally finish back at the school.
As anyone who has ever attended this event will attest, this event is definitely more of a fun-raiser than a fundraiser and all staffers, students, current parents, past parents, families, friends and community members in the Walpole area are encouraged to join us on what promises to be another memorable morning.
This year, O’Lyn Roofing is the gift bag sponsor while Bertucci’s Norwood is the Post Race Reception Sponsor. T-Shirt Sponsors include Lockwood/McKinnon, JM Electrical, and the Vanderbilt Club. Other sponsors include Enviroshield, A.David Landscaping, Signarama, and Knox Electric. Thanks again to all of our sponsors for their generous support.
The family-friendly event will be held, rain or shine, with strollers welcome for both runners and walkers. Anyone wishing to participate in the race can simply register online at: http://www.lightboxreg.com/4th-annual-league-school-of-greater-boston-5k-run-and-1-mile-wal?func=&mobile=0
And anyone who would like to volunteer to work on this special event (or become a race sponsor) can contact race coordinator, Lindsay Wagner, at the school at 508-850-3900. Hope to see you out either running, walking or cheering on Race Day.
