Summer is Almost Here – Fun Activities Planned for Students and Families

Summer Fun Day Returns on August 12

We all scream when the ice cream truck arrives!

With summer on the way, planning is underway for fun student and family activities. Summer Fun Day returns on Friday, August 12. “Because of COVID, it was difficult to hold this popular event to its full extent the past two years,” said Director of Education, Patrick Fuller. “We’re hoping that we can invite parents and guardians again and get families involved with planning for a particularly special day.”

In the past, Summer Fun Day has included dunk tanks, miniature golf, pony rides, fire trucks, and ice cream. Betsy Kerrigan and Amy Faraone are helping to plan this year’s activities. Potential themes for this year include outer space, superheroes, and sports. Results from a recent survey will determine the final pick.

Career Day Planned

“We’re planning for a student Career Day over the summer,” said Patrick. “We’ll invite business representatives in to discuss potential jobs for our students.” If safety protocols permit, the school hopes to also invite former alumni to the event.

New Parent Advisory Committee Kick-Off

In June, the school will kick off a new Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) for the upcoming school year. The PAC supports the school and its mission while offering an opportunity to connect with other parents. Participants provide input while gaining knowledge of issues affecting other families. The committee hosts staff appreciation luncheons and provides support at other school events. If you’re interested in participating, contact Patrick.

Enjoying the New Playground

The new playground that the school’s many supporters made possible is a big hit. “The kids love the new playground,” said Patrick. “The swings are especially popular, and the pavilion offers welcome shade on hot days and a chance for the kids to take a break.”

“We’ll take advantage of the nice weather to be outdoors over the summer,” said Patrick. “There will be lots of school-wide activities for our students and families to have fun.”
