League School visits Newport mansions.

Students Visit Newport Mansions For History Lesson

Last week students and staff took a trip to the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island for history class. Students are learning about the Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age, and a highlight of the trip was visiting the Marble House on the property.

The Newport Mansions offer a unique trip through 250 years of American history, architecture, art and landscape design. The Marble House was built in 1892 and is a National Historic Landmark, and set the pace for Newport’s subsequent transformation from a quiet summer colony of wooden houses to the legendary resort of opulent Gilded Age mansions. To learn more, click here.

The day was a great way for students to see firsthand what they are learning about and to make history come alive! The trip is just one of many that League School students take throughout the course of the year, ranging from educational to recreational.
