Lawrence (Larry) E. Sauer has dedicated his 40+ year career in human services almost exclusively to working with youth who have life challenges by supporting their educational and personal goals and providing them with high quality programs and services to meet their needs. He is very happy to be working at League School with an outstanding staff dedicated to creating a learning environment that provides students a fulfilling quality of life, a top notch education, and a caring community. Larry
became the Chief Executive Officer of the League School in July 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Larry has been in the field of Special Education and Human Services for more than 40 years, the vast majority of that time in private special education. Larry began his career as a mental health therapist and has also held a variety of administrative positions throughout his career, most recently serving as the Chief Operating Officer for League School before taking on his current position. He holds Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton and Human Services (Administration concentration) from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He currently serves on the Massachusetts Association of Approved Special Education Schools (MAAPS) Board of Directors and is served over 10 years on the MAAPS Executive Committee (including two years as President). Working with autistic individuals has opened Larry’s eyes to the diversity of human experience and has magnified his desire to ensure all individuals are accepted, included, and empowered.
