Parent Advisory Committee Benefits School and Student Families

Parents of League School students who are looking for an opportunity to get involved with the school may want to join the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). Similar to Parent Teacher Organizations, the PAC supports the school and its mission while offering an opportunity to connect with other parents. Participants provide input to the school while gaining knowledge of issues affecting families with special need students. The committee hosts staff appreciation luncheons and provides support at other school events.

“The Parent Advisory Committee offers a great opportunity for parents to make connections with the school and its administration,” said Chief Operating Officer Larry Sauer. “Parents give us ideas, voice concerns, and meet parents of other autistic students.”

Meeting every other month, there are multiple educational opportunities for the participants. A speaker who will discuss how to establish a special needs trust for a loved one is planned for this year. Other presenters have covered topics ranging from a deep dive into the school’s Social Communication and Emotional Regulation through Transactional Supports (SCERTS®) curriculum to how parents can support their child’s speech and language development.
