League School of Greater Boston Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Introduces Its New Building as Part of Its $10M Enhancement Program

Officials from League School of Greater Boston welcomed over 120 guests to its Ribbon-Cutting ceremony this past Sunday as it officially opened the doors to its updated facilities.

The brief program that preceded the official ribbon-cutting featured comments from League School Executive Director, Dr. Frank Gagliardi, the school’s Chairman of its Board of Directors, Roger Lockwood, and a parent of a student at the school, Laura Davis.

Dr. Gagliardi explained “this addition provides us with much-needed additional classroom and office space including tutorial rooms, a computer center, a library along with expanded space for music and art. These improved facilities will measurably enhance our educational environment, enabling our faculty and staff to provide an even better learning experience to our students.”

Mr. Lockwood followed with some startling facts that underscored the need for the school’s enhancements: “It is unfortunate and astonishing that autism now affects one in 68 children. Autism is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the United States. To illustrate the pace at which autism diagnosis is growing, just two years ago when we had the groundbreaking for this building, the ratio that is now one in 68 was then one in 88! That statistic alone underscores the need for a facility such as this. We are now so much better able to meet our goal of having the very best place autistic children can live and learn, whether as day students or as residents.”

Mrs. Davis closed the talks with a heartfelt revelation about how much the League School has meant to her family through its efforts with her son, Patrick. She stated unequivocally that “League School is the key ingredient in Patrick’s success….I cannot express my gratitude enough for the League School and all its teachers and staff members who care for my child as if he were their own.”

The ceremony concluded with the school’s founder, Dr. Arnold Vetstein, joining Dr. Gagliardi and Mr. Lockwood for the official ribbon-cutting.

After the ceremony, guests were given tours of the new school, enabling them to see first-hand the new facilities, and enjoyed light refreshments.

League School would like to thank both Wegmans and Whole Foods for their generous donations of food and money for the event. It is assistance from corporate benefactors like these that enables the School to devote even more of its financial resources to taking care of its students.

Finally, the school would also like to thank staff members (who helped set up and provide tours), family members, and friends for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend this ceremony and make it the memorable event that it was.
