League School kicked off Autism Awareness Month on Saturday April 7th with our 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Autism! Despite the frigid conditions, 170 runners, walkers and volunteers came out in support of our wonderful teachers, staff and students as well as to bring awareness for individuals with autism and their families.

Even in the cold, fun was had by all – many of the participants were dancing courtesy of DJ Rob Peters from Rob Peters Entertainment!

THANK YOU to everyone who supported this wonderful day and helped raise more than $15,000, which will go to supporting the immediate needs of our students.

In particular, we must recognize O’lyn Roofing, who was the Gift Bag sponsor for the third year in a row. We must also mention our T-Shirt Sponsors – The Christopher Catanese Children’s Foundation, Walpole Co-Op and Dedham Savings. And of course, Bertucci’s in Norwood, who hosted our Post-Race Reception!

Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers from our 5K Walk Committee, especially Lindsay Wagner for all their work putting this fun day together. Great job by League Student, Aiden W. who contributed the artwork found on the back of this year’s t-shirt.

CONGRATULATIONS to all runners and walkers!  The top male finishers were Max Brown, Hugh O’Connell and Steven Kraft.  The top female finishers were Stephanie Verrette, Kristin Lovering and Sarah Lussier.
